KU football's offensive coordinator will be departing for Middle Tennessee, a source confirmed to Phog.net.
On Wednesday, ESPN and several media outlets reported that KU offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon was set to accept a position at Middle Tennessee State University. The news was confirmed by Phog.net that evening. In departing, Dearmon will replace previous MTSU offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, whose retirement was announced in January.
Dearmon was promoted as KU's offensive coordinator in the 2019 season. He held that position for the last year-and-a-half before the apparent departure.
KU Athletics did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.

The Big 12 released its 2021 conference football schedule on Thursday which crystalized Texas Tech's fall gridiron plans. Perhaps the first thing which stands out is the fact the Red Raiders will play the first nine games on the schedule without a bye. Texas Tech's non-conference schedule, which has been known for sometime, features three games against non-Power Five schools. This marks the first time, other than 2020's shortened slate of games, the Red Raiders have not faced a Power Five non-conference opponent since 2013, the last time Texas Tech won eight games and the last time Tech won a bowl game. Status: SIGNED EARLY, ENROLLED EARLY
Overview:
"I love coach Dearmon," Easters once told me of the Kansas OC, who was a big part of keeping him in the Jayhawks' class. After his early commitment to KU, schools like Cincinnati inquired as to the nature of his pledge, but Easters remained firm to the Jayhawks. He didn't have a perfect senior year, but he did lead a clutch comeback win on national television.
