The Big Ten’s schedule makers took notice.
The Scarlet Knights’ 2021 matchup with the Terrapins has been moved from early October to Thanksgiving weekend as part of the conference-wide schedule overhaul for next season announced Friday.
Here is Rutgers’ new 2021 schedule:
- 9/4 vs. Temple
- 9/11 at Syracuse
- 9/18 vs. Delaware
- 9/25 at Michigan
- 10/2 vs. Ohio State
- 10/9 vs. Michigan State
- 10/16 at Northwestern
- 10/30 at Illinois
- 11/6 vs. Wisconsin
- 11/13 at Indiana
- 11/20 at Penn State
- 11/27 vs. Maryland
The Big Ten reworked its schedule to account for home-and-road flips in annual series that were made in 2020 in order to adapt to a condensed, league-only schedule amid the coronavirus pandemic.
None of Rutgers’ pre-determined league opponents changed, nor did game sites. The conference did change dates for eight of the nine games, as well as the Scarlet Knights’ open week. The schedule reveal also confirms Rutgers’ three non-conference games will remain as scheduled — home games against Delaware and Temple and a road game at Syracuse.
The other notable changes: Rutgers will play Michigan and Ohio State in back-to-back weeks and will have its idle week sandwiched by a pair of trips to Illinois — first at Northwestern, then at the Illini.
